Professional Ice Dam Removal

Prevent Ice Dams From Damaging Your Roof & Causing Water Damage

If you’ve ever noticed large icicles hanging from your gutters or water stains appearing on ceilings during the winter, there’s a good chance you’re dealing with an ice dam. Many Rochester homeowners see the icicles and assume they’re harmless—until water begins making its way inside the home.

Ice dams form when warm air escapes through the attic and heats the roof from below. As snow melts, the water runs down the roof until it reaches the colder edge near the eaves, where it refreezes and begins to build up. Over time, this frozen ridge blocks additional meltwater from draining properly. With nowhere else to go, the water can work its way beneath shingles and into the roof structure.

We see this issue throughout homes across Monroe County, especially after heavy snowfall or during freeze-thaw cycles. The real concern isn’t just the ice itself—it’s the hidden water intrusion that can develop inside walls, insulation, and ceilings long before it becomes visible. Many homeowners attempt to chip away the ice themselves or apply salt products, but these methods often damage shingles and gutters while leaving the underlying problem unresolved.

Prevent Ice Dams From Damaging Your Roof & Causing Water Damage

Our team offers several safe and effective options for ice dam removal depending on the severity of the buildup. In many cases we use professional steam systems that melt the ice without damaging roofing materials. For heavier formations, we may perform controlled mechanical removal to break up and clear the dam safely.

If you want to prevent ice dams from forming again, the most effective long-term solution is improving attic insulation, air sealing, and roof ventilation. Many homes benefit from spray foam insulation in key attic areas, which helps stop heat from escaping through the roof and eliminates the conditions that allow ice dams to develop in the first place.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I would use three words to describe my experience with Mr Giordano.
Polite. Prompt. Professional.
After calling three handyman services, (including the one that does a lot of advertising locally), and two roofing companies without success, Mr Giordano came over, gave me a quote and did the repair work in a little over a weeks time from start to finish, and the final bill was $20 dollars less than the original quote!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I highly recommend Giordano Roof Replacement & Restoration! They completed a full tear-off and roof replacement in just one day, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish. The crew was professional, hardworking, and took great care to keep everything clean throughout the job. Their cleanup afterward was just as impressive—you’d hardly know they had been there.

Anthony, the owner, was personable, honest, and extremely fair. He took the time to answer all of my questions and made me feel confident throughout the entire process. Their pricing was very competitive, and the quality of the work exceeded my expectations.

If you’re looking for a roofing company in the Rochester area, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Giordano Roof Replacement & Restoration!

He and his crew did a good job replacing our roof, cleaning up after the job, and fixing up our ceiling after the whole job was finished. Anthony personally installed our new soffit vents and worked long hours to make sure the job was finished in a timely manner. Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Anthony was hired to repair a leak over a bay window that had been repaired, re-roofed, re-repaired, yet still leaked. He was punctual, neat, thorough and we recently had two of the hardest rains in the history of Rochester. Nary a drop inside the house. This was a demontrably PERFECT repair.
